Who we did it for:
The Sigurdson Family
Why we did it:
These clients love to entertain and cook. In their existing home, the kitchen was separated from the formal dining room; it was underutilized because it was too small for large gatherings.
The goal of the project was to gain more space in the kitchen, dining room & great room and to bring in a craftsman-inspired look with a fresh and comfortable atmosphere.
A Chef’s kitchen with an oversized island, drink station, coffee station, and gas range complete with pot filler was on their wish list. The dining room needed enough space for 8-10 people and the ability to expand for more chairs, if needed. We also needed to create a built-in buffet & hutch to store their seasonal platters, glasses, and serving dishes.
The great room functioned well for their lifestyle but it needed a refresh. The clients loved the existing stone on the fireplace which gave us our inspiration for a design palette. Our goal was to update the great room to reflect the new finishes and bring cohesion throughout the space.
We named this project our “Country Cosmopolitan” because it’s refreshing, elegant, and polished with a splash of colour.
