SCOPE:

Main Floor Renovation

DISCOVERY:

This 60’s bungalow had a tight kitchen, dining room and living room that did not serve this family of four well.  Mom and dad wanted to be able to see their twins play in the living room or do homework in the dining room while making supper in the kitchen.  Our clients desired a functional, connected gathering space that maximized storage. Aesthetically, their space needed to feel bright, clean, uncluttered and inviting.

Our Focus:

Design

  • kitchen, dining & living room layout
  • back entrance layout
  • millwork design & interior detailing
  • lighting layout
  • finish & fixture selections

Management & Procurement

  • partnering with the building team to ensure the design was implemented according to plan.

Accomplishments:

Even though we did not add square footage to this home, we were able open the kitchen, dining and living room spaces, allowing them flow into one another, which provided functionality and the feeling of more space. Storage space was limited and the flow in the kitchen was not efficient. A tremendous amount of storage was gained by adding a large island and the secondary island improved work flow. A spacious pantry wall was added in the dining room with depth gained from the unused floor space above the basement stairs. This bright and inviting renovation allows our clients to enjoy the day-to-day activities of a busy, connected family.
