SCOPE:

New Build

DISCOVERY:

The existing lakefront residence required a complete aesthetic overhaul and numerous layout alterations. With the clients’ growing family, the spaces were no longer meeting their needs, as they may have previously. The views to the lake were a must-have, from the solarium on the main floor and the master bedroom on the second floor. This home away from home needed to have a rustic contemporary feel, and the homeowners were open to some drama through colour.

Our Focus:

Design

  • exterior finishes & detailing
  • interior layouts
  • millwork design & interior detailing
  • lighting layouts
  • interior finish & fixture selections
  • furniture layouts
  • 3D renderings
  • construction drawings & specifications

Management & Procurement

  • partnering with the building team to ensure the design was implemented according to plan
  • coordinating with the engineering team

Styling

  • accessorizing

Accomplishments:

After designing for a whole home renovation, the decision was made to take the existing cabin down and build anew. This provided a new opportunity to increase ceiling heights and expose vaults. It also allowed for new window shapes and sizes to increase natural light and views to the lake.

Key design features in this lake home includes the Nana Wall door that opens the family room into the solarium, adding interior floor space. Reclaimed wood beams on the main floor create a rustic vibe. Beautiful floor to ceiling green cabinetry painted in Backwoods by Benjamin Moore for a vibrant colour statement and hommage to nature. The ensuite, with its wet room, incorporates the Oceania free standing tub surrounded by geometric ceramic tile and integrated (almost invisible) tile drain.

This brand new stunning energy-efficient lake house will be a family home-away-from-home for many years to come.
